Sailing on a Weekly Basis
The Stralsund Wednesday Regatta is a phenomenon: throughout the entire sailing season, from May to September, numerous sailboats meet every Wednesday for racing on the Strelasund. With around forty participating boats, it is one of the largest regular regattas in Germany.
The Triangular Course
Racing takes place on a triangular course between the Sundpromenade, the Rügen municipality of Altefähr, and the Rügenbrücke bridge. The start line is located in front of the north mole at Stralsund harbor. The wind and currents of the Sund make every race a new challenge.

Sport and Camaraderie
The regatta is organized by SSV Hansa Stralsund and a support association. It is not only a sporting competition but also a weekly meeting point for the Stralsund sailing scene. Those who wish to attend as spectators can even follow the events from the Weiße Flotte (White Fleet).
Stralsund on the Strelasund
The UNESCO World Heritage Hanseatic city of Stralsund in the Vorpommern-Rügen district is closely linked to sailing. The Wednesday Regatta makes this maritime identity visible week after week and is a familiar sight of the Stralsund summer.
Wednesday Regatta — edition 2026
The 2026 season of the Stralsund Wednesday Regatta begins on May 6th. Until the end of September, around twenty races will be held, each Wednesday on the Strelasund. Racing takes place on the triangular course between Sundpromenade, Altefähr, and the Rügenbrücke bridge, with the start line located in front of the north mole. With approximately forty boats, the regatta is one of the largest regular racing series in Germany. The organizers are SSV Hansa Stralsund and the support association.

Getting There
Stralsund is accessible by train (main station) and via the A20 motorway. The Sundpromenade is located near the old town.
