179 days of garden show and cultural program in the RennbahnPark from April 16 to October 11, 2026
The Landesgartenschau Neuss 2026 (short LAGA Neuss) is one of the largest events of the year in North Rhine-Westphalia. On the 38-hectare site of the former racecourse – now RennbahnPark – the city and state have been building their own cultural and garden universe since 2022: themed gardens, stages, a wooden Globe Theatre, festival meadow, play areas, water features, gastronomic stands, and a 10,000-seat festival tent for the Neusser Bürger-Schützenfest. The park will also remain as a permanent green space for the city beyond the LAGA.
The opening day was Thursday, April 16, 2026 – celebrated with the state, city, and LAGA company. The following evening (April 17), the public program kicked off with the Beats & Bites Street Food Festival on the newly designed Kulturanger between the Globe Theatre, the old grandstand, the grandstand building, and the totalisator. Over 20 food trucks, a DJ from the roof of the totalisator, the Bundesfanfarenkorps Neuss-Furth – a successful start to the season.
The heart of the musical program is the Sparkassen Stage with its top acts. Especially many highlights are scheduled for 2026: Guildo Horn & Die Orthopädischen Strümpfe (May 24, included in admission), BOUNCE – Bon Jovi Tribute (June 19), MiA. Live 2026 (July 11, included in admission), Gregor Meyle (August 22), HEAVYSAURUS (September 20, included in admission, family-friendly metal), Finale with EROBIQUE (October 11, included in admission). Plus numerous comedy evenings with Markus Krebs, Ingo Appelt, Jochen Malmsheimer, Daphne de Luxe, and many others – a total of over 30 stage acts on weekends.
The Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss performs concerts, the open-air classical night in the rose garden (June 26), and special programs. The Shakespeare Festival Neuss (May 14 – June 6) takes place in the Globe Theatre on the LAGA grounds – with its own ticket. A Roman Festival during the NRW summer holidays commemorates the 5th anniversary of the UNESCO World Heritage recognition of the Lower Germanic Limes with the Roman cohort Opladen. In September, the Festival of Cultures follows on the festival meadow.
For the first time in history, a civic Schützenfest is taking place on the grounds of a state garden show: The Neusser Bürger-Schützenfest (August 28 – September 1) – in its 200th edition – will use the festival meadow in 2026. The 10,000-seat festival tent will be located in the Rennbahnpark from April to October as an exception and will be used throughout the year.
In addition to the events, the park itself is the main attraction: themed gardens for perennials, roses, water, medicinal plants; a children's area with an interactive play area; educational trails on soil cultivation, biodiversity, climate resilience in the garden; gastronomic islands; a Garden of Religions; extensive sunbathing lawns. The exhibition beds of the exhibitors change weekly – every visit brings new impressions.
Neuss, Rhein-Kreis Neuss, is located on the left bank of the Rhine opposite Düsseldorf. The RennbahnPark extends north of the city center – formerly a horse racecourse, now the city's new green lung. After the LAGA, the grounds will remain publicly accessible; many structures (Globe, Schützenhaus) are permanent. The LAGA is an investment in urban development – a new city park for future generations.
With the 2026 season, Neuss experiences its very first State Garden Show. The 38-hectare RennbahnPark becomes the stage for gardens, culture, classical music, cabaret, dance, and sports. One of the biggest events of the year in NRW.
