Sailing Tradition on the Strelasund
The Stralsund Sailing Week looks back on a long history and is a firm fixture in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's sailing scene. On the Strelasund, the waters between the mainland and the island of Rügen, crews of different boat classes meet year after year for sporting competition. The Hanseatic city of Stralsund, with its maritime history, provides the ideal backdrop.
A Diverse Race Program
The Sailing Week combines several regatta formats into a packed schedule:

Sailing takes place in several classes, including the classic International Folkboats – a boat class known for its elegant lines and sporting tradition.
Maritime Experience
The Sailing Week is also attractive for spectators: the regattas can be easily followed from Stralsund's harbor and the Sundpromenade. The combination of sporting competition, Hanseatic atmosphere, and the vast Baltic Sea landscape makes the event a special summer experience in the Vorpommern-Rügen district.
Stralsund as a Sailing City
The UNESCO World Heritage Hanseatic city of Stralsund has always been closely connected to the water. The Sailing Week builds on this maritime identity and celebrates it over several days.
Sailing Week Stralsund — edition 2026
The 76th Stralsund Sailing Week will be held from June 10 to 13, 2026. It kicks off on Wednesday with the handicap race as part of the Wednesday Regatta (6:15 PM), followed by the opening ceremony at 8 PM. On Thursday, a model boat parade of the Dragon Force 65 class is scheduled for 6 PM. Friday features the City Championship at 3 PM and the distance race around Rügen at 6 PM. The event concludes on Saturday with the sailors' breakfast and the race around Hiddensee. Sailing takes place in several classes, including the International Folkboats.
