On a Saturday afternoon in July, the numerous local associations transform the entire village center into a festival mile with stage music, children's program, dance performances, and a wide culinary offering. The festival is traditionally opened by the mayor with the beer tapping. The 38th edition will take place on July 25, 2026.

The 38th Scheidegger Marktfest will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, starting at 1:30 PM in the center of Scheidegg. Opening with the beer tapping by Mayor Ulrich Pfanner, stage music by the music bands of Scheffau and Scheidegg, DJ Alen at the market square, a large children's program, and diverse Allgäu culinary offerings from the local associations. In case of bad weather, the backup date is Sunday, July 26, starting at 11:15 AM.

Getting There

Scheidegg is located in Westallgäu near Lindau and Lake Constance. By car via the A96 (exit Weißensberg) or from Lindau via Lindenberg. Röthenbach (Allgäu) train station with bus connection to Scheidegg.

A festival that carries the whole village

The Scheidegger Marktfest is one of the fixed summer highlights in Westallgäu. What makes it special: It is not organized and supported by an event agency, but jointly by the Scheidegg local associations. Sports, music, traditional costume, and aid associations cater to guests, manage the stalls, and provide the stage program – a festival by Scheideggers for Scheideggers and their guests. The 38th edition will be celebrated in 2026.

Beer tapping in the village center

The official start is traditionally set by Mayor Ulrich Pfanner with the beer tapping at 1:30 PM. Afterwards, the entire village center of Scheidegg fills up: from stalls along the streets and in the squares, the festivities continue into the evening.

Music and Dance

The music bands from Scheffau and Scheidegg provide musical entertainment on the main stage. Additionally, DJ Alen will be playing at the market square. The dance group of the Scheidegg sports club will present dance performances for the audience.

Great Children's Program

The Marktfest is extremely family-friendly. For children, there is a larger-than-life "Looping Louie", a bouncy castle, a game stand with table football darts, and a children's flea market. The parents' council organizes additional hands-on activities.

Culinary Delights from the Allgäu

The gastronomic offer is extensive: grilled sausages and pizza from a wood-fired oven, burgers, pasta, ice cream, cakes, waffles, and crêpes. Gluten-free dishes are also available. Catering is provided by the associations themselves.
