Lower Bavarian Strong Beer Festival at the Club House on Erlenweg
The Starkbierfest of FC Teisbach 1921 e.V. is a typical Lower Bavarian sports club festival: embedded in the match schedule, organized by volunteer members, celebrated in the club's own lounge and on the adjacent grounds on Erlenweg in Dingolfing. Schedule: In the afternoon, the home match of the first team (FC Teisbach plays in the Landesliga Mitte), followed by the Starkbierfest from 5 p.m. with the Ergolator double bock from the Wittmann brewery.
The Wittmann brewery is located in the Frontenhausen district of Landshut and brews its 'Ergolator' (named after the river Ergolding/Isar) as a strong beer double bock — a Franconian-Bavarian specialty with a high alcohol content (over 7%), malty and smooth, ideal for the strong beer season between Ash Wednesday and Easter. At FC Teisbach, the Ergolator is tapped directly from the keg in the club house.
The Starkbierzeit (also called the 'fifth season') is a spring phenomenon throughout Bavaria. While Munich celebrates the big strong beer festivals of the state capital with Nockherberg, Augustinerkeller, and the like, hundreds of smaller strong beer festivals take place concurrently in Lower Bavaria — in brewery pubs, parish halls, sports clubs, and local pubs. The Starkbierfest of FC Teisbach is part of this tradition: not a mass event, but a well-attended sports club festival with a family atmosphere.
FC Teisbach 1921 e.V. is a traditional football club in Dingolfing, founded in 1921 (thus over 100 years old). The first team currently plays in the Landesliga Mitte — one of the higher Bavarian amateur leagues. The club also offers table tennis, youth sports, and an active club life with an annual Starkbierfest, summer festival, and other club events. The club house is located at Erlenweg 5, slightly outside the town center of Dingolfing.
Dingolfing (around 21,000 inhabitants) is the site of Europe's largest BMW plant and the district capital of Dingolfing-Landau in Lower Bavaria. Between the reality of an industrial city and Lower Bavarian tradition, clubs like FC Teisbach thrive — sports, beer festivals, summer festivals, club evenings. Anyone living or working in Dingolfing and looking for an authentic Starkbierfest (instead of the expensive Munich versions) will find it at FC Teisbach on March 7, 2026.
