About Dingolfinger Kirta

The Dingolfinger Kirta is one of the major Lower Bavarian Volksfests and bears the nickname 'Bavaria's Last Wiesn': For six days in mid-October, the festival grounds are transformed into a true Wiesn with a festival tent (3,750 seats), wine tavern (1,400 seats), over 50 amusement rides, horse races, a grand fireworks display, and an afternoon for seniors. Graf Arco brewery from Adldorf and Wittmann brewery from Landshut supply the beer. The 212th edition takes place in 2026 from October 16th to 21st.

Bavaria's Last Wiesn — The Myth

The Dingolfinger Kirta is considered the last event on the Bavarian festival calendar — when other Wiesn have long since ended, Dingolfing is still celebrating its festival week. The nickname "Bavaria's Last Wiesn" is a marketing slogan, but also a fact: the Kirta regularly runs from the Friday of the third week of October until the following Wednesday — thus late into the month, when late autumn has long set in.

Over 200 Years of Tradition

The Dingolfinger Kirta boasts a tradition dating back to the early 19th century. In 2026, it will be the 212th edition. The event is organized by the city of Dingolfing. The festival is deeply embedded in the identity of this Lower Bavarian town in the Dingolfing-Landau district — and has long been of regional importance: visitors flock from the entire area between Landshut, Straubing, and Passau.

Festival Tent, Wine Tavern, and Café Tent

The festival takes place in three large tents. The Festival Tent, run by the Ismair family (hosts Andreas and Jakob Ismair), can accommodate around 3,750 guests; the Graf Arco brewery from Adldorf supplies the beer. Next to it is the Wine Tavern from the Landgasthof Apfelbeck with 1,400 seats and 200 standing places, supplied by the Wittmann brewery from Landshut. There is also a Café Tent that caters to families in the afternoon.

More Than 50 Amusement Rides

Around the tents, there are over 50 amusement rides: carousels, game stalls, candy stands, shooting galleries, food stalls. The city's tender for 2026 requires applicants to have an attractive stand design, lighting, environmental awareness, and a clear business plan — Dingolfing values quality and a balanced mix.

Horse Races, Seniors, and Fireworks

Proven program points attract a special clientele each year: the horse races on Tuesday afternoon in the neighboring stadium, the Seniors' Afternoon on Wednesday with discounted prices, the Family Day program on Wednesday afternoon with reduced rates for rides, and the grand fireworks display late Tuesday evening.

Dingolfing in Industrial and Festival-Loving Lower Bavaria

Dingolfing is located in the Dingolfing-Landau district on the Isar River, about 70 kilometers northeast of Munich. The town is known for its BMW plants but is also traditionally part of Bavaria's core festival region. Those visiting the Kirta should book hotels in advance — the town fills up considerably on the third weekend of October.

Dingolfinger Kirta — edition 2026

The 212th Dingolfinger Kirta runs from Friday, October 16th, to Wednesday, October 21st, 2026, at the Dingolfing festival grounds. Six days of the Ismair festival tent, Apfelbeck wine tavern, and café tent, plus over 50 amusement rides and the usual program highlights: festival parade on Saturday, horse races on Tuesday, grand fireworks on Tuesday evening, and Family and Seniors' Day on Wednesday.

The 212th edition of the Dingolfinger Kirta sticks to the proven structure. The beer is supplied by the Graf Arco brewery from Adldorf (for the Ismair family's festival tent, approx. 3,750 seats) and Wittmann from Landshut (for the Apfelbeck wine tavern, 1,400 seats plus around 200 standing places).

The established program points remain the same — the festival parade to the grounds on Saturday, the beer tapping ceremony on stage, Family and Seniors' Day on Wednesday, the grand fireworks display on Tuesday evening, and the horse races in the stadium. The tender for amusement rides, food, and candy stalls concluded in autumn 2025.
