Half a Century of Marktfest
In 2026, the Stadtilmer Marktfest celebrates its 50th edition – an anniversary that underscores the festival's significance for the small town on the Ilm river. For over fifty years, the Marktfest has evolved into a social meeting point that attracts visitors from far beyond the town limits.
Market Square as a Festival Mile
For three days, the Marktplatz Stadtilm transforms into a versatile festival mile: market stalls with regional products, stage program with music, dance, and shows, amusement rides for children, and a wide range of gastronomy. Traders and craftspeople can register with the town at [email protected].
Stadtilm – Ilm-Kreis
Stadtilm is located in the Ilm-Kreis district in Thuringia, in the heart of the state between Erfurt, Weimar, and Ilmenau. The small town on the Ilm, with around 7,500 inhabitants, has a compact, well-frequented town center with its market square, town hall, and historic old town – the ideal stage for a traditional town festival.
Marktfest — edition 2026
An expanded program is being prepared for the anniversary edition. Detailed program information will be published in advance on stadtilm.com. As in previous years, a mix of market stalls, live music on the main stage, and family activities is expected.

Stadtilm is located on the B 88 federal road, approx. 25 km south of Erfurt. Train connection via the Ilmtal line. Parking facilities in the town center.

Free admission. Market stalls and stage program at customary market conditions.
