Three days of old town festival in the town on the Mulde with club mile, craft mile, and grand club gala
The Stadtfest Grimma celebrates its 35th edition in 2026 — an anniversary that makes the festival one of the oldest and most established events in Saxony's Mulde region. From September 25 to 27, 2026, the historic old town will transform into a festival mile with three thematic areas: the club mile showcasing local clubs, the craft mile in Lorenzstraße, and the main stage with its stage program.
The club mile is the characteristic core of the Grimma Stadtfest. Here, local clubs present themselves: sports, culture, social, heritage, fire brigade, carnival, nature conservation. Each club has a stand and designs it according to their own ideas — with games, interactive activities, club information, and catering. The highlights of the club program will be presented on Sunday, September 27, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, in the club gala on the main stage: on a single stage, the clubs will showcase themselves with performances — dance, sports, music, theater, show acts. A charming presentation of the civic engagement of a town.
The craft mile in the historic Lorenzstraße brings regional craftspeople and direct marketers to the old town: blacksmiths, potters, carpenters, glassblowers, basket weavers, beekeepers, bakers, butchers, brewers, winemakers from the region. The stands are often costumed (historical craft attire), and the demonstrations are often practical — visitors can watch the blacksmith, try the potter's wheel, taste bread from the clay oven.
The main stage in the central square of the old town offers the musical and artistic program: cover bands, dance groups, Schlager artists, regional acts, and the club gala on Sunday afternoon. Exact performance times and artist lists will be published by the Grimma Business Association shortly before the festival weekend on grimma.de.
The town of Grimma, with around 27,000 inhabitants, is located in the Leipzig district directly on the Mulde river. The old town is considered one of the most beautiful in Saxony, with its medieval structure, the Frauenkirche church, and the historic Pöppelmann Bridge. Those who left the town after the floods of 2002 and 2013 should rediscover it today — the town has extensively restored its historic old town and is now one of the most beautiful medium-sized towns in Eastern Saxony.
The 35th edition solidifies the proven Stadtfest concept: three areas, one old town, three days. Unlike commercial city festivals, Grimma strongly emphasizes the club mile — thus giving the many volunteer clubs a moment in the spotlight. The club gala on Sunday afternoon honors the diversity of Grimma's club life on a central stage.
Application deadline for participating clubs and craftspeople: May 30, 2026, via the Business Association. Detailed program with artist performance times will be published in early September 2026 by the City of Grimma and the Business Association.
Free admission to the old town and all stage programs. Food and drinks at club stands and craft stations at club/market prices.
