Schlager Tradition in the Peene Town

For several years, the Peenetalhalle Loitz has attracted renowned Schlager artists to the small Hanseatic town on the Peene river with the "Hier spielt die Musik" Spring Gala. The event is a firm fixture in the hall's seasonal program and is often sold out – proof that Schlager and folk music continue to find an enthusiastic audience in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Concept of the Show

Three hours of live music with an intermission, during which visitors can meet the artists, collect autographs, and get refreshments. The artists vary with each edition; the quality is consistently high, featuring names from the ARD Schlager scene, the folk music sector, and the younger Schlager generation. The event traditionally starts in the early afternoon, allowing visitors from further afield to travel home in daylight.

Local Context

The Peenetalhalle is the largest event hall in Loitz and a venue for concerts, community meetings, and sporting events in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district. In addition to the Spring Gala, it hosts the Christmas tour "Sternenzauber" in December and the NDR Low German program "Plappermoehl" in March – a packed cultural program for a town of 4,000 inhabitants.
