Spring Fair Bergkamen — Fun on the Stadtmarkt

For four days, the Stadtmarkt in Bergkamen-Mitte belongs to the showmen again. From March 27 to 30, 2026, the Spring Fair will be set up on the central square – and you will experience one of the few Volksfeste (traditional folk festivals) taking place in Bergkamen in 2026. After the autumn fair was canceled in 2026, this year's spring edition is the only funfair in town.

Rides and Attractions

At the center – besides the classic Love Express – are a Ferris wheel promising a wide view over the Lippe lowlands, as well as carousels, food and candy stalls. The offer is aimed at families and young people: from children's carousels to faster rides. Several game stalls, shooting galleries, and raffles complement the program.

Bergkamen — Young City with Mining History

Bergkamen, with a good 47,000 inhabitants, is the largest city in the district of Unna and is considered the youngest city in North Rhine-Westphalia – it only became a city in 1966. Its identity is closely linked to hard coal mining, which ended in 2008 with the closure of the Haus Aden colliery. Today, the Marina Rünthe on the Datteln-Hamm Canal, the Bergpark Heil, and the city signal designed by artist Otto Piene shape the city. The Stadtmarkt in the center is not only a weekly market square but also a traditional festival site.

When is it Worth Visiting?

During the day, a visit is recommended for families with children; in the evening, the fair unfolds its full atmosphere with light effects and music. As it is the only fair in Bergkamen in 2026, it is expected to be particularly busy on weekend evenings.

Practical Information

Getting there by car is easy via the A1 (exit Hamm-Bergkamen) or the A2 (exit Kamen). Free parking is available around the Stadtmarkt. You can reach the fairground by bus and train via the Ebertstraße stop. Free admission – you only pay for the rides and stalls.
