Hansesaal Lünen — The Venue
The Hansesaal is Lünen's central venue at Kurt-Schumacher-Straße 41 — directly adjacent to the Heinz-Hilpert-Theater. The modern city hall with two floors, bright rooms, and large glass windows offers around 1,000 square meters of space for markets, concerts, and city events. The Spring Bazaar traditionally uses both floors. Fully accessible — with an elevator, wide aisles, and disabled-accessible restrooms.
Courtyard Gastronomy
Between the Hansesaal and the Heinz-Hilpert-Theater lies the inner courtyard, which is converted into a gastronomic area during the bazaar. Stalls offering coffee, cake, fries, bratwurst, and soup provide a welcome break between floors. In good weather, you can sit outside between the two city buildings.
Location and Arrival
The Hansesaal is about a 10-minute walk from Lünen Central Station. Those arriving by car can park for free at the Theater parking garage or the Pfarrer-Bremer parking lot, both in close proximity. Public transport connections are excellent — many bus lines stop nearby, and the city center is easily accessible on foot.
Lünen — Hanseatic City on the Edge of the Ruhr Area
The city of Lünen, with around 86,000 inhabitants, is located in the Unna district, north of Dortmund. It is the only Hanseatic city in the Ruhr area — a member of the historical Hanseatic League between 1383 and the 17th century. Long shaped by mining, Lünen has successfully managed structural change since the closure of the last mine (Minister Achenbach 1992) with the Stadtwerke lake, the Kinofest film festival, the ZAKT cultural center, and active neighborhood work. The Spring Bazaar is one of the most important creative spring events in Lünen's calendar.
