Club Festival with Tradition

SV Gotteszell e.V. is one of the defining club structures in the monastery town of Gotteszell (Regen district, Bavaria), which has 580 inhabitants. Its sports and summer festival has been a must-attend event in early summer for residents of the surrounding villages in the southern Bavarian Forest for decades. The 36th edition will take place in 2026.

Bavarian Forest Flair

Gotteszell owes its name to the former Cistercian monastery founded in the 13th century — the monastery church is still the town's landmark today. The summer festival combines the typical elements of a Lower Bavarian Volksfest: a festival tent, Maßkrug (liter beer mug), Schweinsbraten (roast pork), and Brezn (pretzel), along with live music from regional bands. The ARBERLAND tourism region officially lists the festival among the Volksfeste in the Regen district.

Location and Arrival

Gotteszell is located directly on the B11 federal highway between Deggendorf and Regen. The historic monastery center can be reached in a few minutes' walk from the sports grounds. For hiking enthusiasts, the ARBERLAND hiking trails and the Großer Arber (1,456 m) are right on the doorstep.
