Bavarian Wiesn atmosphere in the festival tent at Rostock's harbor
The Rostocker Oktoberfest brings Bavarian Wiesn feeling to the Baltic Sea, far north of Munich. The venue is a large festival tent on the Haedge peninsula in Rostock's city harbor — a location where the traditional Wiesn spirit blends with the maritime identity of the Hanseatic city. Shipyard cranes, the Warnow riverbanks, and brass band music: this combination is unique to Rostock.
Bands ensure the right atmosphere in the festival tent. A wide repertoire is played: classic folk music, traditional Oberkrainer sound, lively polkas and waltzes for swaying along, plus party hits and current and well-known chart successes. The tent fills up as soon as the band starts playing — everything from cozy to exuberant is on offer.
Those who want to celebrate in appropriate attire can rent traditional costumes. Tables can be reserved for groups and company parties — making a visit to the festival tent also suitable for company outings or club nights. The Rostocker Oktoberfest is an event for ages 18 and over.
The festival tent is not only available on the actual Oktoberfest days: on the days in between, it can be rented for conferences, company events, or private parties — proof of how firmly the event has established itself in Rostock's autumn calendar.
