Classical Open Air in Fürth City Park with free admission — Season finale of the City Theatre
The Sparda-Bank Classic Night has been the major classical open-air highlight in Fürth since 2003 and is one of the most attended free classical concerts in all of Bavaria. Organized by the Fürth City Theatre, the concert traditionally marks the crowning finale of the theatre and concert season before the summer break. The extensive lawn in the historic Fürth City Park, framed by the Pegnitz river and old trees, becomes an open-air concert arena under the open sky.
Initiated through the close partnership between the City Theatre and Sparda-Bank Nürnberg, which has made the concert possible from the outset, the Classic Night has become a fixture in Fürth's cultural calendar over 23 editions. With infra fürth (municipal utility company), a second strong sponsor has been on board since 2025, ensuring free admission in the long term. Several thousand guests attend the concert annually — in good weather, it quickly becomes a meeting point for families, seniors, and students from the entire Nuremberg Metropolitan Region.
Each edition features a renowned symphony orchestra. Most recently, guests included the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen (2025), the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, and the Hof Symphony Orchestra. The program ranges from standard symphonic literature (Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky) and romantic concert pieces to film music arrangements and operetta medleys — a program that appeals to both classical connoisseurs and the general open-air audience.
The Classic Night is designed as a typical picnic concert: blankets, folding chairs, picnic baskets, and personal drinks are welcome. Additionally, food stalls and the Weinstube Schilderwach offer culinary refreshments directly on site. Those who arrive early secure a spot with a view of the stage, which is set up on the slope — many visitors arrive as early as the afternoon.
On the Sunday after the Classic Night, the Sparda-Bank Classic Day for Kids takes place as the family counterpart — a separate, child-friendly classical concert with interactive programs, games, and activities for young classical music enthusiasts. Together, both events form the "Classic Open Air" weekend in Fürth City Park.
The independent city of Fürth in the district-free Middle Franconia region forms the Nuremberg–Fürth–Erlangen Triangle with Nuremberg and Erlangen and belongs to the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region. With over 80 listed Gründerzeit buildings, the Broadcasting Museum, and the Jewish Museum of Franconia, Fürth is one of Bavaria's most culturally rich cities — the Classic Night is one of its annual summer highlights.
The 23rd Sparda-Bank Classic Night Fürth will take place on Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Fürth City Park. On the expansive lawn, the park will transform into an open concert arena from late afternoon onwards — blankets will be spread out, picnic baskets unpacked, and the concert will begin at dusk.
The exact orchestra and the complete program will be announced by the Fürth City Theatre in the weeks leading up to the concert via the website stadttheater.de, press releases, and social media channels (Facebook/Instagram Stadttheater Fürth).
As in previous years, a renowned symphony orchestra is expected, with an accessible program ranging from standard symphonic literature and film music arrangements to operetta medleys.
The concert will be accompanied by food stalls and the Weinstube Schilderwach. Personal picnics are expressly permitted. Free admission is guaranteed thanks to the long-standing partnership with Sparda-Bank Nürnberg and infra fürth.
On the following day, Sunday, July 19, 2026, the 15th Sparda-Bank Classic Day for Kids will take place — the family-friendly counterpart with a child-oriented classical interactive program.
The complete program for the 23rd edition will be published by the Fürth City Theatre a few weeks before the concert — via the website stadttheater.de, press releases, and social media channels (Facebook/Instagram Stadttheater Fürth).
Free admission — no tickets, no reservations, no registration required. Free admission has been made possible since 2003 by Sparda-Bank Nürnberg and since 2025 additionally by infra fürth. Food and drinks at the stalls and Weinstube Schilderwach at usual open-air prices.
Take the U-Bahn line U1 from Nuremberg Central Station to Stadthalle (12 minutes), then an 8-minute walk to the City Park. By car, take the A73 or A3, parking available in the city center (Parkhaus Stadthalle, Park-and-Ride recommended).
Admission is completely free thanks to the sponsorship partnership with Sparda-Bank Nürnberg and infra fürth. No registration, no reservation — first come, first served.
Blankets, folding chairs, picnic blankets, and picnic baskets are explicitly allowed and encouraged. Your own food and drinks (except glass) are permitted. Food stalls and bars are available on site.
In case of extremely bad weather, postponement or relocation may be possible — current information on the website of the Fürth City Theatre.
