Scheinfeld Wood Day

Franconia's Largest Wood Exhibition

In the heart of the Steigerwald lies Scheinfeld, the self-proclaimed wood and education town. Once a year, on the third Sunday in October, the town hosts the Scheinfeld Wood Day – Franconia's largest public exhibition on the topics of wood and forestry. Over 200 exhibitors from near and far present their offerings, and regularly more than 10,000 visitors attend.

From Forest to Finished Product

The Wood Day covers the entire value chain of wood as a raw material: from forestry operations and forest management, wood crafts, sawmills, carpentry, and timber construction to furniture, firewood, wood art, and regional products. Machines, tools, and traditional craft techniques are demonstrated. The Steigerwald, a region rich in forests, provides the ideal backdrop.

Wood Fairy and Tree of the Year

A special feature is the Wood Fairy, who acts as an ambassador representing the Wood Day and the wood town of Scheinfeld. An educational element is the annually presented Tree of the Year, which imparts knowledge about local tree species and sustainable forest management to visitors. Thus, the Wood Day is simultaneously a trade fair, a family outing, and an educational event.

Scheinfeld in the Steigerwald

Scheinfeld is located in the Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district in the Steigerwald Nature Park. Schloss Schwarzenberg towers above the town. Hiking and cycling trails through the beech forests of the Steigerwald invite visitors to combine a visit to the Wood Day with a nature excursion.
