Kirchweih in the Hop Town of Spalt
Spalt in the Roth district is one of Franconia's most traditional hop and beer towns. The Spalter Wirtshauskirchweih brings enjoyment, culture, and music to the historic old town for four days – with its narrow alleys, vaulted cellars, and courtyards, it's a unique setting for a Franconian Kirchweih festival.
Bell Chime and Kirchweih Parade
On Beer Day, the Spalt bells ring at 2:00 PM to usher in the Kirchweih. Afterwards, the festive Kirchweih parade sets off with the Spalt town band and the Pfofeld band, regional clubs, invited guests, and the town council. The highlight is the raising of the Kirchweih tree by the volunteer fire department, accompanied by music.
Kirchweih Market and Family Day
On market day, Spalt transforms into a large Kirchweih market with a flea and antique market and amusement rides. A festive church service takes place in St. Emmeram Church, and the Fruit and Garden Association displays its fruit exhibition in the Kornhaus. The family day with reduced prices on amusement rides and the cozy conclusion in the Spalt inns round off the Kirchweih.
Spalter Wirtshauskirchweih — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Spalter Wirtshauskirchweih spans four days from October 16 to 19 in the historic old town of Spalt.
From the traditional opening Friday at the Bayerischer Hof to Beer Day with the bell chime and Kirchweih parade, to market day with the Kirchweih market and the concluding family day, the Kirchweih follows its proven schedule in the inns and courtyards of the hop town.

Friday, October 16 — Opening
- noon — Traditional start at the Bayerischer Hof with Schlachtschüssel & smoked meats (available as "Bavarian Burger" on all days)
Saturday, October 17 — Beer Day
- 2:00 PM — Spalt Bell Chime, ringing in the Kirchweih
- 2:30 PM — Kirchweih Parade with the Spalt town band and the Pfofeld band, regional clubs, invited guests, and town council
- 3:00 PM — Raising of the Kirchweih Tree at the festival grounds by the volunteer fire department with musical accompaniment
Sunday, October 18 — Market Day
- 7:00 AM–6:00 PM — Kirchweih Market with flea and antique market and amusement rides
- 10:30 AM — Catholic festive church service in St. Emmeram Church
- 10:00 AM–5:00 PM — Fruit exhibition by the Fruit and Garden Association in the Kornhaus
Monday, October 19 — Conclusion
- from 2:00 PM — Children's and Family Day with reduced prices on amusement rides

Getting There
Spalt is located in the Roth district in the Franconian Lake District. Arrive by car via the A6 (Roth exit). The Kirchweih takes place in the old town and in the inns.
