Christmas Market in the Historic Old Town
Spalt in the Roth district impresses with its well-preserved medieval old town. On the first weekend of Advent, it becomes the setting for one of Franconia's most atmospheric Christmas markets: Over 140 stalls are spread across alleys, vaulted cellars, courtyards, and barns – a unique backdrop far from mass tourism.

The market deliberately focuses on arts and crafts and regional specialties. Franconian delicacies, beer tastings, and handmade goods characterize the offerings. The evening illumination of the old town creates a special atmosphere – a 'Christmas market with that certain something'.
St. Nicholas, Heavenly Messenger, and Spalter Kripperla
Fixed highlights include the visit of St. Nicholas on Saturday evening and the appearance of the Heavenly Messenger on Sunday afternoon. The Spalter Kripperla can be seen in St. Emmeram church. A free shuttle bus from the Enderndorf West car park conveniently brings visitors to the market.
Spalt Christmas Market — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Spalt Christmas Market will take place on November 28th and 29th, the first Advent weekend, in the medieval old town of Spalt.
Over 140 stalls will be spread across the narrow alleys, vaulted cellars, courtyards, and barns. Featuring arts and crafts, Franconian specialties, the visit of St. Nicholas, the Heavenly Messenger, and the Spalter Kripperla, the market continues its atmospheric concept. A free shuttle bus will bring guests to the old town.

- 3:00 PM–9:00 PM — Christmas Market in the Old Town with over 140 stalls
- 6:00 PM — Visit from St. Nicholas

- 12:00 PM–7:00 PM — Christmas Market in the Old Town
- 5:00 PM — Appearance of the Heavenly Messenger

Spalt is located in the Roth district in the Franconian Lake District. A free shuttle bus runs every 20 minutes from the Enderndorf West car park (Zum Igelsbachsee 1): Saturday 2:00 PM–10:00 PM, Sunday 11:30 AM–7:30 PM.
