Main festival of the St. Antonius Marksmen's Brotherhood, existing since 1442, in the Düren district
The St. Antonius Marksmen's Brotherhood Titz was founded in 1442, making it one of the oldest marksmen's brotherhoods in the Lower Rhine region. The annual Schützenfest in Titz is its central main festival and will take place on Friday, September 11, 2026. It marks the culmination of a marksmen's year, during which the brotherhood also participates in festivals in neighboring Pattern (May 3), Müntz (May 31), Welldorf (July 5), Rödingen (July 19), and Jackerath (September 27).
During the 2025/2026 festival year, the brotherhood is led by the royal couple Arno and Michaela Emmerich as reigning majesties. Thomas and Claudia Weber serve as the honorary royal couple. During the Schützenfest in September, the royal couples are celebrated and placed at the center of the festival tent. On Corpus Christi (June 4, 2026), the Vogelschießen (bird shooting) will also take place, where the new royal couple for the following 2026/2027 marksmen's year will be chosen.
Like all Rhineland Schützenfeste, the one in Titz follows the classic sequence:
The exact daily program for 2026 will be published by the brotherhood shortly before the festival date on their website and in the parish.
Titz is a community of around 9,000 inhabitants in the Düren district of North Rhine-Westphalia, located between Aachen, Mönchengladbach, and Cologne, at the transition from the Lower Rhine to the Jülich Börde. The municipality of Titz is composed of several villages — Titz itself, Pattern, Müntz, Rödingen, Jackerath, and Welldorf — with each district maintaining its own marksmen's tradition. The St. Antonius Brotherhood Titz is the central, oldest brotherhood in the community.
The 2026 marksmen's year of the St. Antonius Brotherhood Titz is marked by the following key dates:
Following the traditional brotherhood mass, the general assembly convenes in the brotherhood home.
Participation of the Titz brotherhood in the Schützenfest of neighboring Pattern.
Participation in the Müntz Schützenfest and the regional district festival in Hoengen.
On Corpus Christi, the traditional Vogelschießen takes place, determining the new royal couple for 2026/2027.
Followed by the general assembly and presentation of the new royal couple.
The complete hourly program for the main festival on September 11 will be published by the brotherhood shortly before the date.
The complete hourly program follows the traditional schema of Rhineland Schützenfeste:
