The Bedburg Karneval Session 2026 — „Bebber ALAAF!”

Bedburg in the Rhein-Erft district lies in the heart of the Rhenish Karneval landscape — between Cologne, Düsseldorf, and Mönchengladbach. The annual Karneval session is a central element of city life here, with a variety of events, sessions, and parades. The Bedburger Narrenzunft and the local festival committee organize the program; „Bebber ALAAF!” is the local battle cry of the Bedburg Jecken.

Three Parades on Karneval Weekend 2026

The central parades of the Bedburg Karneval session 2026 are spread across the Karneval weekend:

Sunday, February 15, 2026 — Karneval Parade Bedburg City Center, 2:00 PM

On Karneval Sunday, the big Karneval parade through Bedburg city center starts at 2:00 PM. Organized by the festival committee, floats, dance groups, Karneval clubs, and citizen groups march through the central streets. Thousands of Jecken line the route, collecting Kamelle (sweets).

Monday, February 16, 2026 — Rosenmontagszug Kirch-Grottenherten, 1:11 PM

On Rose Monday, the Rosenmontagszug starts at 1:11 PM in the Bedburg district of Kirch-Grottenherten. The district maintains its own Karneval culture and its own parade — proof of how deeply Karneval is rooted in the individual Bedburg districts.

Monday, February 16, 2026 — Rosenmontagszug Rath, 2:00 PM

Concurrently, another Rosenmontagszug starts in the district of Rath at 2:00 PM. Both district parades are smaller than the city center parade on Sunday but have an equally intense local character.

The Bedburg Districts and Their Karneval

Besides the city center, Bedburg comprises several historic districts, some of which maintain their own independent Karneval tradition:

  • Kirch-Grottenherten — District with its own Rosenmontagszug
  • Rath — District with its own Rosenmontagszug
  • Bedburg-Mitte — Main town with the central Karneval parade on Sunday
  • Other Districts with Karneval sessions, costume balls, and smaller parades

The Bedburger Narrenzunft

The Bedburger Narrenzunft is the umbrella organization of Bedburg Karneval — responsible for selecting the Prince and Princess, the session season, coordinating the parades, and preserving the local Karneval tradition. The guild works closely with the festival committee, the individual Karneval clubs, and the city.

Rhenish Karneval — Bedburg in Context

Bedburg belongs to the Rhenish Karneval tradition, which is shaped by Cologne, Düsseldorf, Mainz, and Aachen. Unlike the smaller district parades in the big cities, Bedburg's district parades have their own character — more manageable, more personal, with direct contact between floats and the audience. An ideal destination for Jecken who want to experience Karneval without the crowds of Cologne.

Karneval as District Strength

The fact that Bedburg organizes three parades over the Karneval weekend shows the vitality of Karneval culture in the city. Each district has its clubs, its prince, its tradition — and the festival weekend is the annual opportunity to make them all visible.

On Rose Monday, February 16, the Rosenmontagszug in the Kirch-Grottenherten district begins its march at 1:11 PM — an independent parade with a local character.
