Modern music festival in Bad Tölz town centre
Bad Tölz on the Isar in southern Upper Bavaria (district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen) has been known for decades as a spa town – with its iodine baths, historic old town, Calvarienberg hill, and the Tölzer Tracht (traditional costume) as its central identity markers. With Sound.Fest.Tölz., the town is expanding its summer profile with a modern music format that transforms the town centre into an open stage for a weekend.
The festival runs from June 5th to 7th, 2026, and focuses programmatically on modern music formats – meaning current genres beyond the traditional folk music and brass traditions that usually characterise the region. Pop, indie, singer-songwriter, funk, soul, and electronically influenced live acts typically form the backbone of festivals of this kind. The exact artist lineup will be announced by the organiser closer to the date.
The venues are traditionally the stages around the historic Marktstraße – Bad Tölz's listed main street with its painted burgher houses, the Isar bridge, and the ascent to Calvarienberg hill. Pop-up stages are set up in courtyards and squares, with seating and gastronomic stands lining the streets in front of the houses. Tölz restaurants and bars open their doors to festival visitors.
Sound.Fest.Tölz. is part of a broader Tölz event calendar for 2026, showcasing the spa town's character as its "most vibrant side". In addition to the festival, the Tölz town festival, the Leonhardifahrt in November (UNESCO World Heritage tradition), the Tölz Christmas Market, and numerous concerts by the Tölzer Knabenchor shape the annual calendar.
The town lies at the intersection of the Upper Bavarian pre-Alpine region and the first foothills of the Alps. A pilgrimage site, film location (Der Bulle von Tölz), spa town, and Alpine tourism hotspot – Bad Tölz brings its diverse identity to the Sound.Fest., attracting a young, modern audience from Munich (40 minutes by car, 60 minutes by train) and the wider region.
The 2026 edition is being promoted by the Bad Tölz tourism marketing as one of the musical highlights of the annual programme. Over three days at the beginning of June, several stages in the town centre are scheduled to host performances simultaneously – typically a mix of established acts and newcomers from the South German music scene.
The exact artist lineup, performance venues, and ticketing model will be published in the weeks leading up to the festival on bad-toelz.de and in the town's festival communications.
Artist list and detailed programme will be published by the organiser closer to the date on bad-toelz.de.
