Summer festival on the Midsummer weekend in ErlebnisPark Hochdorf
The Sonnwendfest hosted by TSV-Lauftreff and Förderverein ErlebnisPark Hochdorf has been a firm fixture in the summer calendar of the Strohgäu municipality of Eberdingen in the Ludwigsburg district for years. On Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21, 2026, the natural grounds of the ErlebnisPark at Rieter Straße 58 will open for the traditional Sonnwendfest — a summer festival centered around the calendar Midsummer.
The festival starts on Saturday at 3 PM and runs until 2 AM on Sunday. Catering opens at 3 PM in the afternoon. In the evening, TSV-Lauftreff and Förderverein will light the traditional Sonnwendfeuer — an old Germanic custom that is maintained in many variations in the region. Live music with bands from the Strohgäu and the region, plus DJ sets in the late hours, will keep the atmosphere going through the short summer night.
During the day, the ErlebnisPark transforms into a family summer festival with a children's program, games, catering with regional specialties from the grill, and Swabian classics. The natural surroundings — meadows, trees, play areas — make the festival a typical rural Baden-Württemberg summer celebration, less a Volksfest (public festival) and more an extended club festival with a supra-regional character.
Eberdingen is a municipality of 6,700 inhabitants in the Strohgäu region, west of the Ludwigsburg district, with the districts of Eberdingen, Hochdorf, and Nußdorf. The Strohgäu, located between Stuttgart and Pforzheim, is an open agricultural landscape transitioning from the Neckar basin to the Black Forest foothills — grain cultivation, scattered fruit trees, and viticulture shape the landscape. The ErlebnisPark Hochdorf is a recreational facility supported by the local association and the municipality on the outskirts of town, featuring natural meadows, play areas, and a clubhouse — the ideal location for a summer Midsummer festival.
On the weekend of the calendar Midsummer, ErlebnisPark Hochdorf opens its doors for the traditional Sonnwendfest. TSV-Lauftreff Hochdorf and Förderverein ErlebnisPark Hochdorf jointly host the two-day summer festival, which starts on Saturday at 3 PM and runs until 2 AM on Sunday.
The central element is the Sonnwendfeuer on Saturday evening at dusk — a traditional Midsummer custom. During the day, the program includes catering with regional grilled specialties, a children's and family program, and live music. The natural setting of the park, with its meadows, trees, and play areas, gives the festival its special character.
The complete program and stage times will be published in advance on eberdingen.de.
