21st edition on the Pentecost weekend on the Town Hall forecourt with 30+ international draft beers and 50 bottled beers
The Düren Beer Market has been a fixture in the Rhineland's festival calendar since 2005. In 2026, the 21st edition will take place, traditionally held on the Pentecost weekend from Friday, May 22nd to Whit Monday, May 25th, 2026, on the central Town Hall forecourt in Düren's city center. The festival has grown from a small beer fest to the largest beer festival in the Düren district and is now one of the most visited free city festivals in the region.
The heart of the market is the beer selection. More than 30 international draft beers and over 50 bottled beers are available for tasting – from Belgian Trappists and Czech Pilsners to German craft beers and international specialties. Each beer stand serves in the original brewery glass, which collectors often take home as souvenirs. Beer merchandise, T-shirts, scarves, and brewery accessories are also sold. Spirits are deliberately not served at the market – the focus remains on beer.
The market opens on Friday, May 22nd, 2026, at 6:00 PM with the traditional keg tapping by Mayor Frank Peter Ullrich on the Town Hall forecourt. Afterwards, DJ Take-Down will provide the music. The event is organized by Gerd Suhr in cooperation with the City of Düren.
The music program has been part of the Beer Market's identity for years. In 2026, the lineup includes:
The concerts are free and take place on the market's main stage.
On Whit Monday, the 31st Oldtimer Classics Düren will take place concurrently with the Beer Market: a rally of historic vehicles starts in the morning from the market square and returns in the afternoon. The combination of both events creates a Pentecost atmosphere throughout the city center.
Düren is the district capital of the Düren district in North Rhine-Westphalia, located between Cologne, Aachen, and the Eifel region on the Rur river. The city has around 92,000 inhabitants and is excellently connected via the Cologne–Aachen railway line. The Beer Market utilizes the central location and the Town Hall forecourt, one of the most beautiful city squares in the region, as its festival stage, regularly drawing thousands of visitors to the city center for Pentecost.
Beer is only served to guests aged 16 and over. Public transport will operate night buses during the weekend, making the journey home to Cologne, Aachen, Jülich, or Eschweiler easy.
The 21st edition of the Düren Beer Market solidifies the festival's status as the largest beer tasting event in the Rhineland. With over 30 draft and 50 bottled beers from around the world, four days of live music, and the concurrent Oldtimer event on Whit Monday, the Town Hall forecourt transforms into an international beer stage for four days. Beer is exclusively served to those aged 16 and over, and night buses ensure safe travel home.
Free admission. Beers approx. €3–€6 depending on glass size and brewery. Food from €5. Original glasses can be taken as souvenirs (with deposit).
By train: Düren Central Station (ICE/RE/RB) – 5 min. walk to the Town Hall forecourt. By car: A4 exit Düren or A44 exit Aldenhoven, parking garages in the city center (paid). Night buses will be in operation during the festival.
