About Sonnenrot
Sonnenrot — edition 2026
4th Edition at a New Location
From Friday, August 28th, to Sunday, August 30th, 2026, the fourth edition of the Sonnenrot Tribute Festival will take place. For the first time at the Hahnweide/Ziegelwasen area in Kirchheim unter Teck — the new location offers more space for campers and a larger festival site than the previous venue.
Top-class tribute bands from pop and rock will present their homages to stars from U2, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Coldplay to Helene Fischer and Die Toten Hosen. The exact lineup will be published before the festival date on sonnenrot-festival.de. 4th Edition at a New Location
The Sonnenrot Tribute Festival enters its fourth edition in 2026 — and is moving to the Hahnweide/Ziegelwasen area in Kirchheim unter Teck for the first time. From Friday, August 28th, to Sunday, August 30th, 2026, top-class tribute bands from pop and rock — from international stars to German classics — will perform over three days.
Tribute Concept — The Greats Imitated Worthily
Tribute bands are among the most interesting phenomena in the current live music market: specialized musicians who perform the work of stars like U2, AC/DC, Queen, Pink Floyd, Coldplay, Helene Fischer, or Die Toten Hosen with great attention to detail. Only such bands perform at the Sonnenrot Festival — a homage to the classics of rock and pop history. The exact lineup for 2026 will be published in advance on sonnenrot-festival.de.
Camping and Chill-out Area
There is a designated camping area on the festival grounds where visitors can pitch their tents and spend the whole weekend on-site. A chill-out area with loungers, sunshades, and a relaxed lounge atmosphere invites you to linger between concerts. Food trucks from the region offer culinary diversity — from Swabian Maultaschen and burgers to vegan bowls.
Family-Friendly Prices
The Sonnenrot is deliberately positioned as family-friendly: day tickets at approx. €8–10 and a 3-day pass at approx. €18 make it one of the most affordable festivals in Swabia. Young people under 14 have free admission — ideal for families looking for a shared summer live experience.
Kirchheim unter Teck and the Hahnweide
Kirchheim unter Teck, a town with approximately 41,000 inhabitants in the Esslingen district, is the starting point of the Swabian Jura. The Hahnweide is a well-known gliding airfield and event venue — famous for the Hahnweide Oldtimer Aviation Meeting. With the Sonnenrot, the region gains another summer festival with a family-friendly orientation.
