The traditional Whit Monday gathering of the VfB Friends Cannstatter Zuckerle in Kämpfelbach-Ersingen
It's a curious but endearing constellation: In the middle of Baden, in Kämpfelbach, in the Enzkreis district, lives a fan club of VfB Stuttgart — the biggest team of Württemberg, the arch-rival of Baden. The fan club "VfB Freunde Cannstatter Zuckerle Ersingen Baden", with over 80 members, has been celebrating the traditional Summer Festival on Whit Monday for years — a celebration among friends that bridges this very Baden-Württemberg divide.
The hallmark of the festival is the goal wall shooting. Directly in front of the Turn- und Festhalle Ersingen, the fan club sets up its goal wall — and suddenly, not only the local VfB community gathers, but also the KSC fan club and other fan clubs from the region. There's kicking, betting, boasting, and laughing; the Baden-Württemberg football rivalry is played out sportingly and peacefully on the goal wall. This is a likeable exception in Southern Germany, where the VfB-KSC rivalry can otherwise be quite heated.
Around the goal wall shooting, the fan club sets up beer benches in the outdoor area. Cool drinks (local beer, cocktails, non-alcoholic refreshments), freshly prepared food (bratwurst, grilled steaks, fries), and plenty of seating under the open sky — here you'll experience a classic German club festival in its most convivial form. Whit Monday, a classic family day, also attracts many parents with children, neighbors, regular guests, and sympathizers.
The municipality of Kämpfelbach consists of the two districts of Ersingen (postal code 75236) and Bilfingen and is located in the western Enzkreis district between Pforzheim and Bretten. With around 6,000 inhabitants, Kämpfelbach is a typical rural municipality on the edge of the Kraichgau and the Northern Black Forest — scattered fruit orchards, fields, and small forests characterize the landscape. The Turn- und Festhalle Ersingen is the social center of the district — it hosts sports events, club festivals, Whit Monday festivals, and the annual carnival parade of the Rainwald-Hexen.
The fan club's name refers to the Cannstatter Zuckerle — a Stuttgart term that has historical ties to the Stuttgart Mercedes-Benz district team. In the club colors red and white, the members are active at away games, home games in the Mercedes-Benz Arena, and with their traditional summer festival on Whit Monday. For years, the festival has established itself as the Whit Monday meeting point for the Southern German football fan scene.
On Whit Monday, May 25, 2026, the outdoor area in front of the Turn- und Festhalle Ersingen becomes the venue for the traditional summer festival. The fan club VfB Freunde Cannstatter Zuckerle Ersingen Baden e.V. sets up its goal wall, and clubs, fan clubs (including the KSC fan club from nearby Karlsruhe), and guests from all over the region come together.
Whit Monday is a family day — the festival runs throughout the day and usually ends in the evening. The Baden-Württemberg bridge is built over the goal wall shooting.
Free admission. Food and drinks at club prices.
By car: A8 exit Pforzheim-West, then B294 to Königsbach-Stein, from there to Ersingen. Parking spaces around the Turn- und Festhalle.
Free admission. Food and drinks at usual club prices.
Whit Monday, May 25, 2026, all day — typically from noon to evening.
If you come as a non-VfB fan, participate in the goal wall shooting with a KSC or other fan club team — the competition is friendly, and the shared Whit Monday will be memorable.
