Keltern in the Enzkreis

Keltern is a municipality in the Enzkreis district (AGS 08236), east of Karlsruhe and west of Pforzheim. The municipality consists of the four districts Ellmendingen, Dietlingen, Niebelsbach, and Weiler — Ellmendingen and Dietlingen are wine-growing districts with vineyards on the south-facing slopes between the Black Forest foothills and the Kraichgau. The Ellmendingen Wine Cooperative bundles the producers and markets their wines — Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Müller-Thurgau, Lemberger, Pinot Noir.

Grape Blossom as a Festival Occasion

The Weinblütenfest falls during the period when the grapevine blossoms — early to mid-June, depending on the spring weather. The blossom is inconspicuous but crucial for the wine's annual cycle: it determines how rich the later autumn harvest will be. The festival honors this important moment in the winegrowing calendar with a hiking festival through the vineyards.

Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The festival takes place as a day event — from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The starting and ending point is the Kelter Ellmendingen, the historic pressing building of the wine cooperative. Along a circular route through the vineyards between Ellmendingen and Dietlingen, various vintners and the cooperative set up hospitality stands: wine for tasting, snacks with regional sausage and cheese, fresh bread, quark bread, Baden specialties.

The New "Promillehüttle" on Keulebuckel

A new feature: the Promillehüttle, newly erected on the Ellmendingen Keulebuckel near the edge of the forest, is the main hub of the festival. The Förstlich Weinmanufaktur presents its wines here and the "Förstlich's Genusskörbchen" — a selection of regional delicacies paired with the wine.

Atmosphere and Family Festival

The atmosphere is that of a Mediterranean vineyard hiking festival: June sunshine, blooming vines, wide views over the northern Palatinate Forest foothills to the Black Forest. Families hike with strollers or baby carriers, older generations meet on the benches in front of the huts. Free admission, wine by the glass, snacks at fair prices.
