Family garden summer festival of the Haus am Waldsee art venue in Berlin-Zehlendorf
The Haus am Waldsee at Argentinische Allee 30 in Berlin-Zehlendorf (Steglitz-Zehlendorf district) is one of Berlin's oldest and most renowned art institutions for international contemporary art. Built in 1923 as a private villa, the complex with its spacious garden directly on the Waldsee lake has been showcasing international contemporary art since 1946 — many important Berlin careers began here, and many world-renowned artists had one of their first solo exhibitions in Zehlendorf.
Once a summer, Haus am Waldsee opens its entire grounds — villa, café, garden, and lake shore — for an all-day festival that combines the current exhibition with independent artistic interventions, performances, readings, and family workshops. Admission to the festival grounds is free (regular admission applies to the exhibition: €9/€6 reduced).
Haus am Waldsee is located in one of Berlin's greenest and quietest residential areas — Zehlendorf-Süd, near Mexikoplatz and Grunewald. The summer festival makes this special place accessible to a broad, intergenerational urban public once a year — a Berlin art weekend that is explicitly also intended for families and takes place, unlike the major Berlin art institutions, directly on the water, not in a city block.
As in previous years (2024, 2025), Haus am Waldsee plans for 2026 an all-day summer festival in its garden at Argentinische Allee 30 in Berlin-Zehlendorf. The exact date and program will be published in early summer via hausamwaldsee.de and the Museumsportal Berlin. As in previous years, artistic interventions in the garden, performances and readings, family workshops, a live concert in the late afternoon, and café service are expected. Admission to the festival grounds is free; the exhibition in the villa is subject to regular admission fees.
The exact program will be published by Haus am Waldsee in early summer 2026. Based on the 2024 and 2025 editions, the following structure can be expected:
Haus am Waldsee, Argentinische Allee 30, 14163 Berlin (Zehlendorf). S-Bahn S1 Mexikoplatz.
S-Bahn S1 Mexikoplatz (10 min. walk) or Bus 118/285 to Argentinische Allee. By car via the A115 (AVUS).
Festival grounds (garden, performances, concerts): free. Exhibition in the villa: €9 / €6 reduced.
