The Sommerfest Bauernhaus Biestow is a fixture in the event calendar of the small Rostock district. The venue is the large festival meadow of the Bauernhaus by the village pond — a place with rural charm on the southern outskirts of the Hanseatic city. From a Cozy Afternoon to a Blazing Fire

The festival begins relaxed in the afternoon: there's barbecue, cool drinks, and an opportunity to get together with friends and acquaintances. But the real highlight comes in the evening. Around 7 PM, the large bonfire is lit — the summer bonfire of the Bauernhaus is considered legendary and is the defining image of the evening. It blazes visibly from afar on the expansive festival meadow.

Celebrating Until After Midnight

When the fire is burning, the festival meadow truly comes alive. The celebration continues well past midnight, often accompanied by live music. In past years, bands like the STRANDGUT-Band provided rock 'n' roll on the festival meadow — summer bonfires and live music go hand in hand.

Tradition on the Outskirts

Over the years, the summer festival has established itself as the summer highlight of the district. In 2025, it took place on August 23rd, and in 2024 on August 24th — a reliable late-summer date. Admission is free, and the festival attracts not only residents of Biestow but also everyone who appreciates the rural festival atmosphere on the outskirts of Rostock.
