Summer concert series at the bandstand in the Kurpark
Spa concerts have been part of the classic repertoire of German spa towns since the 19th century. They structured the daily routine of spa guests, provided an occasion for promenades, and were – even without radio and records – the most important form of musical encounter with the respective region. Bad Camberg cultivates this tradition to this day with “Sommer im Park”, a free concert series that takes place every Wednesday at the Musikpavillon im Kurpark.
The 2026 season runs from June 17 to September 2 and includes eleven Wednesday concerts, each at 7:30 PM. The 2026 concert dates: June 17, June 24, July 1, July 8, July 15, July 22, July 29, August 5, August 12, August 26, and September 2. The break in mid-August is established (summer holiday break). The performing ensembles are usually regional orchestras, choirs, big bands, brass bands, and small ensembles – a weekly changing program between classical music, brass music, Schlager, and pop.
The venue is the Musikpavillon in the historic Kurpark Bad Camberg. The concerts are free of charge – the audience sits on the benches set up in the park or brings their own folding chairs and blankets. In case of rain, the concerts are usually canceled; there are no replacement dates. The park is accessible free of charge all year round and is within walking distance of the town center and the A3 motorway exit.
Bad Camberg, with its approximately 14,000 inhabitants, is one of the smaller Hessian spa towns. In summer, the town and the Kurpark come alive with spa guests, day-trippers, and residents – the Sommer im Park concerts are an important attraction and meeting point for the town’s society.
While many German spa towns have discontinued their summer concert series in the last two decades or have converted them into commercial formats, Bad Camberg consistently adheres to the free tradition. The eleven Wednesday concerts are financed through the municipal cultural fund and are thus part of the town’s public cultural offerings.
