Cross-border market in the Lamer Winkel
Lam's market square, idyllically nestled in the Bavarian Forest Nature Park near the Czech border, transforms into a colorful market mile with character during the summer date of So a Kirta. Around 40 exhibitors from Germany and the Czech Republic set up their stalls, offering a range of products rarely found in retail: handmade leather goods, wool products, children's fashion, wood crafts, and numerous new discoveries from artisans and manufacturers.
So a Kirta is more than just a market: the event is part of the cross-border Euregio cooperation and sees itself as a cultural bridge between the Bavarian region and the Bohemian Šumava area. It underscores the historically grown economic, social, and cultural connections on both sides of the border and makes them directly experienceable for visitors.
The innkeepers from Lam and the Lamer Winkel ensure physical well-being with hearty delicacies and sweet specialties. Traditional Bavarian and Bohemian music is played on the market square — folk music groups like the Enzian Duo or Taky Taky usually accompany the festivities from nine to five. For the younger guests, there's face painting, flower arranging, beeswax wrap crafting, card making, performances by magician Waltini, a bouncy castle, and a classic children's carousel.
Lam is located in the Cham district in the Bavarian Forest and is the main town of the Lamer Winkel, a valley basin surrounded by high mountains. So a Kirta takes place twice a year: once in summer and once in autumn. The summer date attracts families and day-trippers from all over the region with its long, bright days and summery market atmosphere.
The 2026 summer market brings numerous exhibitors from the German-Czech border region to Lam's market square on July 5. The organizers rely on the proven concept: craftsmanship quality, Bavarian-Bohemian diversity, and a family-friendly supporting program.
The market offers a range from leather goods, wool products, and children's fashion to wooden items. Local innkeepers provide culinary catering, while folk music groups musically accompany the morning and afternoon.
Exact stall times and program items will be updated on soakirta.de.
