Heimatfest in the Heart of the Bavarian Forest
Arnbruck, with just under 1,900 inhabitants and part of the Zellertal valley, is located in the Regen district of the Bavarian Forest — on one of Bavaria's historically most significant glass routes between Munich and Prague, in the Lower Bavarian state of Bavaria. The annual Heimatfest takes place on the first weekend of August and animates the festival grounds directly at the well-known Weinfurtner Glasdorf. In 2026, the festival days are scheduled from Thursday, July 30th, to Sunday, August 2nd.
Four-Day Program
Thursday kicks off with a colorful Heimatfest evening featuring Oberkrainer music groups and Schlager-pop bands. Friday evening belongs to the Zellertal brass band Arnbruck: starting at 6:00 PM with a standing concert in the village square, followed by a procession into the festival tent with festive fanfares. Saturday, festival operations begin at 6:00 PM, with the festival tent program starting at 7:30 PM. Sunday features the club parade through Arnbruck, with affiliated fire brigades, shooting clubs, and music bands from the Zellertal — Drachselsried, Bodenmais, Bad Kötzting, Lam, and Furth im Wald are regular guests.
Festival Tent with Lower Bavarian Festival Cuisine
The festival tent at Weinfurtner Glasdorf offers classic Lower Bavarian festival cuisine: roast pork with dumplings and coleslaw, half a chicken, sausage rolls, grilled fish on a stick, and pretzels. Accompanied by festival beer from the regional Bavarian Forest — usually from Bayrisch-Brauerei or Falter-Bier. The Heimatfest beer is traditionally tapped by the mayor to open the festival.
Small-Scale Volksfest Sociability with an Amusement Park
The festival tent is complemented by a small amusement park with a carousel, swing boats, a shooting gallery, and candy stalls — typical for Lower Bavarian Heimatfeste. Families will find a children's program on Sunday afternoon; the parade is a highlight for the entire village community. The festival is organized by the Zellertal-Spielmannszug Arnbruck e.V. together with the Sportverein Arnbruck and other local clubs.
Bavarian Forest and Glass Art
The neighboring Weinfurtner Glasdorf is one of Bavaria's most important glass manufactories — glassblowers work live, and the glass art and gallery invite visitors all year round. Those visiting the Heimatfest can combine their trip with a visit to the Glasdorf. The Zellertal valley itself, nestled between the ridges of the Bavarian Forest, is a hiking and recreation region with holiday resorts like Drachselsried, Bodenmais, and Lohberg.
