12 Years of Silvesterlauf Neuss

The Silvesterlauf Neuss is Neuss’s established running tradition for the end of the year. Since 2014, the initiators have been organizing the 10-kilometer circuit on the last day of the year – and with considerable success. The 12th edition will take place on Thursday, December 31, 2026, at 12:00 PM. A sporting tradition that actively concludes the year before the New Year's Eve celebrations begin in the evening.

10 km Circuit at Uedesheimer Rheinbogen

The route is a 10-kilometer circuit along the Uedesheimer Rheinbogen – one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss. The Rheinbogen is located south of the city in the district of Uedesheim, where the Rhine curves in a pronounced arc, forming floodplain forests, meadows, and bird sanctuaries along its banks. An exceptionally scenic running backdrop.

Start Time 12 PM – Midday Format

The format is deliberately set for midday – at 12:00 PM. Advantage: Those living in or around Neuss can have breakfast in the morning, run at midday, shower in the afternoon, and head into New Year's Eve feeling rested. Unlike New Year's Eve runs in other cities that take place in the evening, there is ample time for recovery before the party.

Registration and Entry Fee

Registration is online at silvesterlauf-neuss.de – registration for the next edition is already open. The entry fee is €20 and includes on-course refreshments, timing, a finisher's gift, and a contribution to the charity campaign. Charity: Aktion Luftballon

A portion of the entry fees goes to the charity campaign "Aktion Luftballon" – a Neuss donation project for children and families in the region. This commitment has been part of the Silvesterlauf's concept since its first edition.

Route Along the Rhine

The circuit leads along the Uedesheimer Rhine bank, through floodplain forest sections and meadows, with Rhine views for large parts of the route. It is a flat course – without significant elevation changes – ideal for personal bests and for beginners completing their first 10 km run.

Family Format or Personal Best?

Both are possible. Competitive runners can use the flat course for a 10 km personal best. Families and amateur runners can conclude the year with a relaxed midday run by the Rhine. The atmosphere is friendly and casual – a run that celebrates the community of the Neuss running scene.

Neuss-Uedesheim as a District

Uedesheim is located in the south of Neuss, directly on the left bank of the Rhine, with a view of Düsseldorf-Holthausen on the other bank. The district is rather rural – a contrast to the city center. The Rheinbogen is both a local recreation area and a nature reserve.
