Four-day Schützenfest of the Bürger-Schützen-Verein 1952 from July 11th to 14th, 2026
Neuss, a major city with around 154,000 inhabitants and an independent city on the left bank of the Rhine (Rhein-Kreis Neuss, Düsseldorf administrative district), is famous for its Neusser Schützenfest — one of the largest Schützenfeste in the world. However, in addition to the traditional main celebration in the city center, almost every district of Neuss has its own Schützenfest. Reuschenberg, a northern district of Neuss, celebrates its Schützenfest with the Bürger-Schützen-Verein 1952 Reuschenberg — founded in 1952, making it relatively young compared to the traditional marksmen's associations in the Lower Rhine region.
The Schützenfest runs for four days from Saturday (July 11th) to Tuesday (July 14th), 2026. This unusual length (concluding on a Tuesday) follows Rhenish Schützen tradition: Saturday opening, Sunday Schützenmesse and first highlights, Monday parade and Königsball, Tuesday coronation evening or festival conclusion. Reuschenberg adheres to this classic format.
The Schützenfest follows the standard Rhenish sequence:
Unlike the large Neusser Schützenfest in the city center (approx. 7,000 active marksmen, hundreds of thousands of visitors), the district festival in Reuschenberg has a more intimate atmosphere. The festival tent accommodates around 500-800 people, entry is free, and the mood is familial and neighborly. Reuschenberg families, former residents, and visitors from neighboring districts gather for the traditional Schützenfest marathon.
The association was founded in 1952 in Reuschenberg — a relatively late founding in the Rhenish marksmen's tradition, which often dates back centuries. Despite its shorter history, the association has established itself as an important pillar of Reuschenberg's community life. Activities include, besides the Schützenfest, shooting competitions, Carnival, club evenings, and social actions in the district.
Reuschenberg is located in northern Neuss, easily accessible by public transport. Bus lines 853, 854 (stops Reuschenberg) connect the district with Neuss main station. By car: A 57 exit Neuss-Norf, then towards the Reuschenberg district. Parking around the festival tent (limited). The exact festival grounds will be announced by the association via the City of Neuss.
The 2026 edition of the Schützenfest in Neuss-Reuschenberg follows the classic Rhenish four-day sequence. The Bürger-Schützen-Verein 1952 organizes the festival independently. Familial atmosphere, low-threshold entry, traditional marksmen's rites.
The focus is on the Schützenmesse and Königsschießen with the coronation of the new Schützenkönig on Sunday, the parade with the new royal couple on Monday, and the festival conclusion on Tuesday.
