Two days of city festival under the Hohenzollern Castle — two stages, music, and Swabian gastronomy
The Sigmaringen City Festival takes place annually on the last weekend of June — in 2026 from Saturday, June 27, to Sunday, June 28. Sigmaringen's city center, framed by the impressive castle backdrop, transforms into a vibrant festival mile with two stages, catering stands, and a colorful program on both days. The organizer is the city of Sigmaringen with the Tourist Information office.
A varied program runs on two stages in the city center: musical bands (brass bands and city bands), bands (cover, rock, pop, Schlager), dance groups, and folkloric performances. Sigmaringen's clubs — from the city band to sports clubs and traditional costume groups — contribute to the program. The musical spectrum ranges from traditional brass music on Sunday morning to a cover band on Saturday evening.
Numerous catering stands run by local restaurateurs and clubs offer hearty Swabian dishes: Maultaschen, Spätzle with lentils, roast pork, grilled bratwurst, currywurst, fries, potato pancakes, Swabian sausage platter. Accompanied by regional beers, Upper Swabian cider (Most), wines from the region, and non-alcoholic beverages. Families will find dedicated children's stands with sweets, ice cream, and child-friendly offerings.
Sigmaringen (district capital in the Sigmaringen district, approx. 17,000 inhabitants) is located on the young Danube River in Upper Swabia, at the transition to the Swabian Jura. The striking Hohenzollern Castle — ancestral seat of the Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen family — towers high above the city on a rocky outcrop and is one of the most impressive castle complexes in Southern Germany. The city center with its historic facades, the Rathausgasse, and the narrow alleys forms a special backdrop for the city festival. You can reach the festival grounds on foot from the train station in just a few minutes.
The city festival is explicitly family-friendly. Families dominate the scene during the day, while adults and young people gather around the stages in the evening. Free admission and the central location in the city center make the festival easily accessible for all Sigmaringen residents and visitors from the Danube Valley and the Swabian Jura. Those who wish to visit Hohenzollern Castle can perfectly combine the city festival with a castle tour.
On Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28, 2026, Sigmaringen invites you to the traditional city festival. Both days, from 11:00 AM to midnight, a colorful program will be presented on two stages — musical bands, ensembles, dance groups, and folkloric performances. Sigmaringen's clubs and restaurateurs will operate the catering stands with Swabian-Upper Swabian dishes.
The backdrop with Hohenzollern Castle high above the city makes the festival particularly atmospheric. The city center and Rathausgasse will become a festival mile.
