Annual summer wine festival in the Upper Swabian small town on the Danube
Scheer is one of the smaller Danube towns in Upper Swabia – a small town with around 2,500 inhabitants in the Sigmaringen district, located at the transition between the Danube and the Swabian Jura. Its wine festival is one of the town's classic summer events: a one-day festival in the town center that invites residents and guests to linger and enjoy on a summer evening.
According to the official event calendar of the town of Scheer, the wine festival will take place in 2026 on Saturday, August 15 – the traditional Ascension Day weekend in Southern Germany. The town will publish detailed program information in advance; usually, wine stands set up by local clubs are offered, regional wines are served, and simple refreshments are available.
Unlike the large folk festivals of the Swabian metropolises, the Weinfest Scheer is a small, community-oriented festival. Visitors experience the Swabian Danube small town in a relaxed atmosphere: no big acts or showmen, but club stands, a glass of regional wine, and reunions with neighbors and friends. The charm lies precisely in this down-to-earth nature.
Scheer is located on the Upper Danube between Riedlingen and Mengen, nestled in the Upper Danube Nature Park. The region is one of the most scenically beautiful sections of the Danube in Germany – narrow gorges, steep cliffs, and Beuron Monastery in close proximity. A visit to the wine festival can therefore be well combined with a Danube hike or a day trip to Hohenzollern Castle.
The Sigmaringen district combines several small summer wine festivals of its municipalities into an almost inconspicuous, but for the region important, event landscape. The Weinfest Scheer is one of them – not a tourist magnet, but a firm summer highlight for the citizens and regular guests of the town. Accommodation is available in Sigmaringen (15 km away), Mengen, or the surrounding holiday guesthouses in the Upper Danube Nature Park.
The Weinfest Scheer 2026 is expected to take place on Saturday, August 15, 2026 – the Assumption Day weekend, a classic date for wine and festivals in Southern Germany. The town of Scheer has entered the date in the official event calendar.
Following the tradition of previous years, wine stands set up by local clubs will be available in the town center. Regional wines, simple food, and summer atmosphere at the transition between the Danube and the Swabian Jura will characterize the evening. The detailed program will be published by the town.
Exact times and detailed program will be announced via the event calendar of the City of Scheer (www.stadt-scheer.de). Free admission.
