Four days of Franconian wine, live music, and cellar tours in the WEINREICH
The Pfingstweinfest der Winzer Sommerach is one of the established wine festivals on the Main River and in the Volkach Mainschleife. The organizer is the Winzergenossenschaft Sommerach eG, a traditional cooperative in one of the oldest wine-growing villages in Franconia. The festival grounds are the WEINREICH – the gastronomic experience area at the Winzerkeller at Zum Katzenkopf 1.
The WEINREICH is simultaneously a modern vinotheque, event location, and place of experience. During the Pentecost Wine Festival, the outdoor area (terrace, inner courtyard) and parts of the cellar are opened for live music and catering. The culinary offerings range from Franconian dishes (bratwurst, dumplings, salads) to more specialized tapas-like side dishes, complemented by the full range of the cooperative's wines: Silvaner as the flagship variety, along with Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, Domina, and Schwarzriesling.
The Pfingstweinfest is a must-attend event for many Franconian wine lovers. In 2026, it celebrates its 20th edition with a packed musical program over four consecutive days – Friday to Whit Monday – plus guided cellar tours, wine tastings, and an open cellar door.
Sommerach is part of the wine-dominated Volkach Mainschleife in the Kitzingen district (Lower Franconia). The region is considered one of the central growing areas for Franconian Silvaner. The Sommerach Winegrowers Cooperative – founded in 1901 – has since managed vineyards around the Sommeracher Katzenkopf and Roßstall. With the WEINREICH, they have created a modern showcase for their wines and events.
From May 22 to 25, 2026, the Sommerach Winegrowers Cooperative celebrates the 20th edition of its Pfingstweinfest in the WEINREICH at the Winzerkeller. Over four consecutive days, the winegrowers combine Franconian wine culture with a packed live music program – with a DJ set on Friday, bands on Saturday and Sunday, and a mix of swing in the morning and hits/rock in the evening on Whit Monday.
Parallel to the festival, guided cellar tours and wine tastings (registration via [email protected]) will take place throughout the four days, as well as an open cellar door for free visits. For the 20th anniversary, the festival's appeal is traditionally high – early arrival is recommended.
