A Kärwa to Kick Off May
While most Franconian Kärwas fall in the summer or autumn, the Siegelsdorf Kirchweih traditionally opens the Kärwa calendar — right at the beginning of May. This makes it one of the earliest Kirchweih festivals in the district of Fürth and in all of Middle Franconia. The organizers are the Kirchweihburschen Veitsbronn (KWB), who actively pass on the customs.
The Program in the Village Square
- Opening with Traditional Concert in Siegelsdorf village square — brass music from the local band sets the mood for the festival
- Beer Tapping: The mayor or a representative of the municipality of Veitsbronn taps the first keg
- Amusement Park with rides and shooting galleries for young and old
- Festival Tent or covered festival catering by the clubs
- Kärwa Customs: In the Franconian style with Kärwa tree, dancing, and a communal festival atmosphere
Siegelsdorf in the District of Fürth
Siegelsdorf is a district of the Middle Franconian municipality of Veitsbronn, west of Fürth, nestled in the Zenngrund — the fertile Zenn valley between Neustadt an der Aisch and Fürth. Veitsbronn belongs to the Zenngrund alliance and is part of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region.
More Than Just a Club Commitment
The Siegelsdorf Kärwa is supported by a broad village alliance: the Kirchweihburschen Veitsbronn (KWB) as the main organizer, the municipality of Veitsbronn, local clubs and parties (the SPD Veitsbronn-Siegelsdorf also traditionally gets involved). The festival is an anchor of identity for the district and one of the social highlights in the Veitsbronn annual calendar.
