Middle Franconian Kärwa in the Knoblauchsland
The Kärwa Puschendorf is the annual Kirchweih (church fair) of the municipality of Puschendorf in the District of Fürth in Middle Franconia. Puschendorf is located in the so-called Knoblauchsland, the traditional vegetable-growing region between Nuremberg, Fürth, and Erlangen.
Four Days of Festivities on the Village Square
The 2026 Kärwa runs from September 11 to 14. It begins with the church service in St. Wolfgang Church on Friday, September 11 at 5:30 PM. This is followed by the opening at the village square with a beer tapping ceremony and dance music. Program highlights include: Live music in the festival tent, a derby competition on Saturday, Brocante (flea market) on Sunday, September 13 from 11 AM to 4 PM, and the parade through Puschendorf.
St. Wolfgang as Patron Saint
The Church of St. Wolfgang in Puschendorf is the namesake and patron saint of the Kärwa. The opening service on Kärwa Friday marks the spiritual start of the festival; many pilgrims and parish members participate in the liturgy.
Brocante – Franconian Flea Market
A special feature of the Puschendorf Kärwa is the Brocante on Sunday: stalls with antiques, bric-a-brac, and collectibles fill the village center. Exhibitors come from all over the region.
Experience Franconian Festival Culture
With its traditional parade, festival tent, Franconian bratwurst, beer from regional breweries, and the participation of Puschendorf's clubs, the Kärwa preserves the customs of Middle Franconian village communities – authentic, familial, and with a convivial atmosphere.
