Advent Market in the Historic City Center
Langenzenn is a small town in the district of Fürth (AGS 09573) west of Nuremberg. The city center, grouped around the town parish church and the former Augustinian monastery, is the stage for a compact Christmas market during Advent, organized by the town of Langenzenn and local associations.
Three Streets, One Market
The market extends around the market square, into Klosterstraße, and Friedrich-Ebert-Straße. More than 90 festively decorated and illuminated stalls line the historic buildings. The narrow city layout and the fairy lights strung around the market square create a dense Advent atmosphere.
Holderküchle and Regional Specialties
A special delicacy are the Langenzenner Holderküchle – a type of fried pastry, rare in Franconian baking traditions, made with elderberry syrup or jelly. In addition, Nuremberg gingerbread, candied almonds, bratwurst, mulled wine, and punch are part of the regular program. Associations, schools, and kindergartens participate with their own stalls.
The 3rd Sunday of Advent as the Date
Unlike the multi-day Advent markets in larger cities, the Langenzenn Christmas Market is a one-day event – always on the 3rd Sunday of Advent. This concentration on a single day gives it the character of a community festival, celebrated by the citizens of Langenzenn together with guests from the Nuremberg and Fürth surrounding areas.
