Three days of Franconian wine and conviviality in a Kitzingen district village
Sickershausen is a district of the town Kitzingen, located in the heart of the Franconian wine region. With just under 1,000 inhabitants, Sickershausen is small but all the more significant in terms of viticulture: the vineyard "Sickershäuser Storchenbrünnle" is one of the well-known Franconian wine-growing areas on the banks of the Main. Predominantly Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, and Domina grow here – the classics of Lower Franconian viticulture.
Once a year, the citizens and vintners of Sickershausen celebrate their wine festival – a typical street wine festival where the village center and main street become the festival grounds. Long tables, umbrellas, stalls from local vintners, and catering stands from clubs turn the small village into an open wine mile for three days.
The program follows the proven structure: opening on Friday evening with music, a wine festival church service on Sunday morning, and a musical wine festival opening on Monday evening with the Großlangheimer Musikanten. Franconian wine in all variations, Franconian specialties (sausages, Schäufele, onion cake, sweets), relaxed summer atmosphere.
Kitzingen is the district town and wine capital of the Kitzingen district – located on the Main loop, with a historic old town, the Falterturm (landmark), and a strong winemaking tradition. Sickershausen is located on the eastern outskirts. The entire region around Kitzingen, Volkach, Sommerach, Nordheim, and Würzburg belongs to the Franconian Wine Region – one of the most traditional wine regions in Germany.
The Sickershäuser Straßenweinfest is part of a dense wine festival calendar in the Kitzingen district. The traditional Sickershäuser Weinfest in autumn (Harvest Thanksgiving) is also popular. Those who come in the summer will also find other wine festivals in Sommerach, Nordheim, Escherndorf, and Volkach – a whole wine region weekend can be well planned.
The citizens and vintners of Sickershausen invite you again from July 11 to 13, 2026, to the traditional street wine festival. Dates confirmed via the city of Kitzingen and in reports from wuerzburgerleben.de and infranken.de.
