Final concert of the SHMF school project in Holstenhalle 5
The Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival is not only one of the largest classical music festivals in Europe — it has been intensively involved in musical education in Schleswig-Holstein schools for years. The "Singstars!" project brings classical, traditional, and cross-cultural music into primary school life and brings the participating classes together in a festive final concert.
In 2026, four primary schools are participating in the project:
Over six months, the second and third graders, under the artistic direction of Stephanie Glasmeyer, discovered the diversity of music, listened to foreign rhythms, and learned songs from different cultures.
The concert motto "We are colorful" celebrates cultural diversity and musical bridges. The young singers show that music connects and creates community. The final concert combines educational goals with a public performance — children experience themselves as artists on a big stage.
The Holstenhalle 5 in Neumünster is a modern event hall within the Holstenhallen complex — a suitable stage for large events with several hundred participants. The organizer is the Stiftung Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival under director Dr. Christian Kuhnt; the project is supported by seven foundations, including the Nör Foundation and the Claussen-Simon Foundation.
Neumünster is an independent city in the state of Schleswig-Holstein and hosts several SHMF concerts annually. The Holstenhallen area is easily accessible by train and the A7 motorway and is an attractive concert destination for families from all over the north.
For over six months, the participating classes have engaged with a wide variety of musical traditions, rhythms, and cultural soundscapes. On June 19, 2026, these experiences culminate in the joint final concert "We are colorful". Holstenhalle 5 in Neumünster provides the fitting setting for the presentation.
Four primary schools from different districts of Schleswig-Holstein are bringing their classes to Neumünster: Hafenstraße Elmshorn (Pinneberg district), Heinrich-Eschenburg-School Holm (Pinneberg district), Ostsee Primary School Scharbeutz (Ostholstein district), and Rudolf-Tonner-School Neumünster.
The concert program "We are colorful" will be published in its final form about three weeks before the event on shmf.de/singstars. Based on past experience, the evening is structured as follows:
