A Week of Culture for the District

The Stadtteilwoche Sendling-Obersendling is one of Munich's district weeks – a format hosted by the Department of Culture of the City of Munich in various neighborhoods. For seven days, a park in the south of Munich becomes a stage for the neighborhood. The motto »Wir machen was« (We're doing something) perfectly captures the spirit of the event: the people from the district shape their festival themselves.

Program by Associations and Creatives

Clubs, institutions, and creatives from Sendling and Obersendling jointly put together a broad program:

  • Music, cabaret, and theater
  • Dance and readings
  • Guided tours and exhibitions
  • Information market of associations and institutions
  • Children's program and hands-on activities

Admission to all events is free – the district week is intended as an accessible event for all population groups.

Main Venue: Neuhofener Park

The central venue is Neuhofener Park near Zechstraße. Event tents, the information market of associations and institutions, and catering services are located here. The festival grounds in the park are open on weekday afternoons and all day on weekends; the evening program regularly attracts well-known artists.

Organization and Local Integration

The Stadtteilwoche Sendling-Obersendling is organized by the Department of Culture of the City of Munich in cooperation with the district committees 6 (Sendling) and 19 (Obersendling, Thalkirchen). It combines institutional cultural work with the everyday life of the district and strengthens community cohesion. Munich is located in the state of Bavaria; the district weeks are an integral part of the city's cultural calendar.
