Harbour Festival 2026 at Whitsun
With the Harbour Festival 2026, the Baltic Sea resort of Sellin opens the summer season at the seawall on the Whitsun weekend. From Saturday 12 PM, the jetty fills with families, beach visitors, and locals. In the afternoon, the musical programme starts, and from 10 PM, DJs take over. Sunday continues from 11 AM in a more relaxed manner with morning pint and family activities.
The exact list of artists and the times for the dragon boat taster sessions will be published a few weeks before the festival on the harbour and municipality's website. Catering at the harbour stalls starts from the beginning of the festival.

Whitsun Festival at Rügen's Youngest Harbour
The Sellin Harbour, built in 2018, is one of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's youngest island harbours. With its 365-meter-long jetty, the striking seawall, and the promenade towards the pier, it has become a popular maritime meeting point within just a few years. Once a year, on the Whitsun weekend, it transforms into a festival harbour: the Sellin Harbour Festival takes place, organised by the municipality of Ostseebad Sellin together with the harbour master and local restaurateurs.
Programme between Family Fun and Harbour Party
The Harbour Festival is deliberately designed to appeal to all generations. During the day, family activities dominate: hands-on activities on the jetty, craft stalls, small play areas, taster courses in stand-up paddling, and dragon boat trial trips directly from the seawall. In the afternoon, the musical programme begins — cover bands, singer-songwriters from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, blues-rock combos. As dusk falls, DJs take over the stage. Demonstrations by the DLRG (German Life Saving Association) and the sea rescuers complement the programme and underline the maritime character.
Culinary Delights from the Bodden
The stalls along the harbour offer classic Baltic Sea cuisine: fish soup, smoked fish, herring, fried fish, along with bratwurst, fries, vegetarian options, crêpes, and sweet treats. Drinks include draft beer, regional spirits like Rügener Kümmel, Aperol, and wine. The wooden benches along the jetty become a promenade with views of the yachts and the Sellin pier in good weather.
Tradition and Significance
The Sellin Harbour Festival is a fixed event in the Baltic Sea resort's calendar and traditionally marks the start of the main season on Rügen. It is one of many Whitsun events along the island's coast, but stands out due to its compact harbour setting and its clear commitment to free admission. Organisers and the municipality see the festival as a gesture to both island guests and locals alike — a statement that the tourist resort Sellin and the residential town of Sellin need not be opposites.
