Traditional two-day village and harvest festival in the Prenzlau district of Seelübbe — September 5th and 6th, 2026
When the festival tent is set up in Seelübbe on the first September weekend of 2026, one of the most beautiful village festivals in the Uckermark begins in the small district of the district town of Prenzlau. On Saturday, September 5th, and Sunday, September 6th, 2026, the Seelübbe village community celebrates its traditional district and harvest festival. Admission is free, and the festival is organized on a voluntary basis by the residents, supported by the town of Prenzlau, which counts Seelübbe as one of its districts.
Harvest festivals have a deep tradition in the Uckermark, a distinctly agricultural region between Berlin and the Baltic Sea. In September, when the last bales of straw lie in the fields and the late summer harvest is brought in, the villages give thanks for what the earth, weather, and work have provided. In Seelübbe, this happens according to the classic pattern: a braided harvest crown, sheaves of straw, harvest dolls, and festively decorated festival tents form the framework for a weekend full of encounters, music, and good food.
Classically, the festival days start on Saturday afternoon with the tapping of the keg or a small opening ceremony. During the day, family activities dominate — cake buffets, club stalls, games for children. In the evening, a dance event with a regional dance band or DJ is held. Sunday classically features a morning pint (Frühschoppen), followed by the actual harvest thanksgiving celebration with the harvest crown and a communal lunch. A detailed schedule and exact times will be published in the summer of 2026 by the Seelübbe village community and via the town of Prenzlau.
Seelübbe is one of the approximately 25 districts of the town of Prenzlau, which, as a medium-sized town with just under 19,000 inhabitants, forms the center of the Uckermark district. The small village is located a few kilometers outside the town center of Prenzlau, in a typical Uckermark landscape with fields, forests, and small lakes. This structural independence is what makes the festival charming: it is not a centrally organized town festival, but an event entirely supported by the village community, where the residents personally welcome their guests.
Visitors to the Seelübbe District and Harvest Festival will not find a show program for tourists, but real village life — the community meets, former residents return, the mayor, pastor, club chairmen, and residents are all present. It is precisely this authenticity that makes such village festivals in the Uckermark valuable occasions for encounters for visitors from Berlin or other regions who want to experience real rural Brandenburg.
From Saturday, September 5th, to Sunday, September 6th, 2026, Seelübbe celebrates its traditional district and harvest festival. A festival tent, dance evening, harvest crown, and morning pint (Frühschoppen) characterize the classic program — supported by the voluntary village community and the town of Prenzlau.
The detailed schedule with times, music program, and culinary stands will be published in the summer of 2026 by the village community. Notices at the village entrance and information via the Prenzlau Tourist Information.
