73rd Schützenfest of SV Wildschütz Aue (1953) with Father's Day, Children's Festival, Auer Mai-Gaudi and Main Parade
From May 14th to 17th, 2026, the Schützenverein Wildschütz Aue 1953 e.V. invites you to its 73rd Schützenfest in the festival tent at Morsbachtalstraße 6 in Remscheid's Aue district. Four days from Thursday to Sunday, a packed program with Father's Day, sausage cart competition, king's shoot, children's festival, federal Schützenfest, main parade, and coronation — a proven Bergisches Land tradition.
The Schützenverein Wildschütz Aue was founded in 1953 and currently has around 100 members. It is a member of the Deutscher Schützenbund (DSB) and the Rheinischer Schützenbund. The name 'Wildschütz' (poacher) refers to the hunting tradition of the Aue region — historically, wildschützen were among the predecessors of today's shooting clubs. Today, the club is purely a traditional association, fostering shooting sports, camaraderie, and the annual festival weekends.
A special feature is the premiere of the '1st Auer Mai-Gaudi' on Saturday evening. With the Bavarian band Alpenbanditen, the Wildschütz Aue marksmen are introducing a Wiesn format to the festival tent for the first time — Lederhosen, Dirndls, Wiesn hits, and Maßkrugs in the festival tent of the Bergische Aue. A creative expansion of the classic Schützenfest schedule, designed to attract younger generations and Wiesn fans.
The Bergisches Land region, including Remscheid, Solingen, and Wuppertal, boasts a rich shooting tradition. While the nearby Rhineland is dominated by large brotherhoods, the Bergisches shooting clubs are often smaller, more local, and village-like. Wildschütz Aue is a typical example — 100 members, a district identity, and a festival tent on the slope of the Morsbach valley. Anyone wanting to experience Bergisches tradition live should plan to be in Remscheid on May 16th or 17th, 2026.
Four days of festivities in Remscheid's Aue district. From the classic Father's Day with sausage cart tradition to the King's Shoot and the premiere of the '1st Auer Mai-Gaudi' with Wiesn atmosphere on Saturday — and the Main Parade with coronation on Sunday.
