A Town District Kirmes with Character

The twin town of Ransbach-Baumbach in the Westerwaldkreis consists of two historically independent districts, each of which cultivates its own traditions. The Kirmes Baumbach is the identity-forming festival of the eastern district and is organized with great volunteer commitment from local clubs.

The Kannenbäckerland

Ransbach-Baumbach is located in the heart of the Kannenbäckerland, Germany's traditional ceramics center, built on centuries-old clay deposits. The region's artisanal self-image also shapes its festival culture — clubs, craft businesses, and families are closely connected, and festivals like the Kirmes Baumbach are true community events.

The Program Concept

The four-day Kirmes follows a proven structure: Kick-off on Friday evening with live music (in 2026, the cover band Fohr Five), family day on Saturday with the traditional Games without Borders competition, festival service and barrel tapping on Saturday evening, followed by a second concert (Lift Off). Sunday is dedicated to afternoon entertainment and the traditional Kirmes parade. Monday concludes with a morning pint and the festive Kirmes handover.

Games without Borders

The Saturday competition "Games without Borders" is one of the hallmarks of the Baumbach Kirmes. Clubs and groups compete against each other in fun, often quirky games — a program item that spans generations and always ensures a lively atmosphere.

Morning Pint with Tradition

The Monday morning pint with the Ransbach-Baumbach Music Association is one of the most convivial moments of the Kirmes. The local brass band provides the musical accompaniment while the festival gathering comes together in a relaxed atmosphere. In the evening, the outgoing Kirmes committee hands over its responsibility to the next generation — accompanied by DJ Joco.
