Four-day Schützenfest with Kölscher Abend, tradition since 1958
Tackhütte is a small district on the eastern edge of Mönchengladbach's Giesenkirchen district, on the border with Erkelenz and Selfkant. The district has a few hundred inhabitants, its own parish church, a few shops, and a shooting club that shapes local life: the Schützenverein Tackhütte 1958.
The Schützenverein Tackhütte 1958 was founded in 1958 and has been the most important club in the district ever since. Like many Rhenish-Lower Rhenish shooting clubs, the association cultivates the connection between shooting sports, customs, and conviviality. With about 100–150 active members, the club is manageable but lively – its main annual event is the Schützenfest.
The festival runs over four days on the third weekend of August. In 2026, this will be August 14–17, 2026.
Festival opening at 7:30 PM with the traditional Kölscher Abend (Cologne Evening) – live music with Cologne classics (Höhner, Brings, BAP covers), festival beer atmosphere, meeting with guest clubs.
During the day, parades, corps-internal ceremonies, and club life. In the evening, a festival ball with live music in the festival tent.
Morning: joint church service. Afternoon: King's shooting at the 'Vogel' (bird target) – the highlight of the festival. Evening: crowning of the new king.
King's balls and winding down the festival.
The festival venue is the Ortskern Tackhütte (Tackhütte town centre) – a small square in the village centre where the festival tent is set up. Advance ticket sales for festival tent events are available through the club's own online shop at tackhütte.de.
The 2026 edition continues the four-day festival concept. Advance ticket sales for festival tent events are available through the club's website. Tradition since 1958, supported by the volunteer core of the club.
