Three-day Schützenfest of the St. Sebastianus Schützenbruderschaft in the Leverkusen district of Lützenkirchen
From Friday, June 12th, to Sunday, June 14th, 2026, the St. Sebastianus Schützenbruderschaft Lützenkirchen invites you to the Lützenkirchen Parish Centre — three days of shooting competitions, a parade, dancing, and hospitality. Venue: Lützenkirchen Parish Centre, Von-Knoeringen-Straße 3, 51381 Leverkusen. Admission is free; the Schützenfest is an open Volksfest for all residents and guests of the Bergisches Land.
St. Sebastianus is the patron saint of marksmen — the Lützenkirchen brotherhood has borne his name for generations. Schützenbruderschaften (marksmen's brotherhoods) in the Rhineland and Bergisches Land have been documented since the Middle Ages; they combine religious customs, military history, and social community. Today, they are purely traditional associations and cornerstones of village and town life.
Lützenkirchen is one of Leverkusen's eleven districts, located in the north, characterized by its rural and green surroundings. The district, with around 11,000 inhabitants, has its own identity, its own parish (St. Maurinus), and a strong club scene — from the Schützenbruderschaft to carnival clubs and the football club.
The programme follows the classic Schützenfest format with local specialities:
The musical entertainment throughout the weekend is varied: on Saturday evening, the band NORDSTARS will perform as a party band for the King's evening — with a repertoire of rock, pop, and Schlager. On Sunday evening, 'Ne Kölsche Jukebox' will provide the right atmosphere at the Crowning Ball with music from Cologne and the Rhineland (Höhner, Bläck Fööss, Brings, Kasalla).
The highlight of the weekend is the parade on Sunday morning starting at 11:30 AM. Marksmen in uniform, the old and new Majesties, the brass band, and the guard march through Lützenkirchen — from St. Maurinus Church to the Parish Centre and through the streets of the district. Hundreds of residents line the route, applauding and participating in the traditions of their marksmen's brotherhood.
Three days of Schützenfest tradition in Lützenkirchen, Leverkusen's green north. Venue: Lützenkirchen Parish Centre, Von-Knoeringen-Straße 3. The Sunday parade moves through the entire district — a proven must-attend event in the Bergisches tradition calendar.
Free admission. Refreshments available at the Parish Centre (beer, food).
