Waiblinger Stadtlauf — Tradition in the Remstal Valley
The Waiblinger Stadtlauf is one of the established city runs in the greater Stuttgart area and is the highlight of the summer running season in the Remstal valley. The organizer is HD Sports, which has been successfully organizing the run for years. The routes lead through the medieval old town of Waiblingen and along the Rems river — a particularly photogenic combination of city and river.
Main Race 10 km at 4:00 PM
The main 10 kilometer race starts at 4:00 PM. The course runs as two laps through the old town — past the market square, the collegiate church of St. Michael (Waiblingen's landmark), and through the historic alleys — and along the Rems riverbank through the city's green spaces. The elevation difference is minimal (Rems valley level), making the course suitable for beginners to advanced runners.
Program Throughout the Day
11:30 AM: Children's race — distances vary by age group, from 400 m for the youngest to 1.5 km for older children. Parents may accompany young children.
2:30 PM: Beginner's run (approx. 6 km) and Nordic Walking — shorter distance for fitness enthusiasts and Nordic walkers.
4:00 PM: Main race 10 km — competitive distance with timing.
Timing and Results
Timing is provided by Race Result, one of Germany's professional timing service providers. Online results are available immediately after the race. Historical results from 2022 to 2025 can be accessed via the online portal.
Family-Friendly Concept
The event is family-oriented: children can start at 11:30 AM, parents can participate throughout the day and even compete in the beginner's run or the main race themselves. Refreshments are available on the course (water, sports drinks), and after crossing the finish line, there's a snack stand with a pasta party and bratwurst.

2026 City Run — Four Disciplines
The 2026 Waiblinger Stadtlauf again offers four disciplines for different target groups — from the children's race, beginner's run, and Nordic Walking to the competitive 10 km main race. The start/finish is at An der Talaue 4 — the event grounds on the Rems river, just before the old town.
The routes lead past the St. Michael's Collegiate Church, the market square, and through the historic alleys. The second section of the course runs back along the Rems through the Talaue green space.

Getting There
Waiblingen, An der Talaue 4, 71334 Waiblingen. From Waiblingen station (S-Bahn S2 from Stuttgart, 12 minutes) it's about a 10-minute walk to the start/finish. By car, take the B 14 — parking is available in the city center parking garages.
