2026 Edition — Autumn Market in the Half-Timbered Town
The City Market 2026, under the proven motto „Market for Fine and Beautiful Things”, will again stretch from the market square via Höllgasse to Marktstraße on October 25th. Around 50 selected exhibitors are expected with arts and crafts, regional specialities, fashion, jewellery, and gift items. With late autumn weather and against the backdrop of the half-timbered houses, a special atmosphere is created that draws many visitors from the greater Stuttgart area to Schorndorf.
During the market, the entire Schorndorf retail sector will also be open from 12 pm to 5 pm — bakers, bookshops, boutiques, drugstores, and toy shops. Thus, the market Sunday becomes an occasion for a relaxed stroll through the entire city centre.

Schorndorf City Market — Autumn Market for Fine and Beautiful Things
On the last Sunday in October, the city of Schorndorf opens its city centre for the traditional Stadtmarkt (city market). Unlike many other municipal markets, Schorndorf consciously focuses on quality over quantity: The motto „Market for Fine and Beautiful Things” is the programme. You will find carefully selected exhibitors with culinary specialities, arts and crafts, fashion, jewellery, and extraordinary gift ideas — no junk, no mass-produced goods.
Market Square and Half-Timbered Old Town
The market area extends from the market square with the baroque town hall through Höllgasse into the pedestrian zone. Schorndorf's old town is one of the best-preserved half-timbered ensembles in Baden-Württemberg — almost completely rebuilt after the town fire of 1634, with magnificent Renaissance and Baroque facades. In the autumn light and with the market stalls in front, this creates a backdrop that you rarely find so intact.
What to Buy and Taste There
The offerings range from regional food products from the Remstal valley — farm cheese, honey, sausages, wine, spirits, baked goods — to arts and crafts with ceramics, glass, wood, leather goods, to fashion and accessories from small manufactories. There are also stalls with gift items, jewellery, and natural cosmetics. Snack stands will provide you with food from crêpes to Swabian classics, along with mulled wine, apple juice, and coffee — perfect for the autumn season.
Sunday Shopping
In parallel with the market, the entire Schorndorf retail sector opens from 12 pm to 5 pm. This makes the City Market an occasion for a relaxed Sunday stroll through the city centre — boutiques, bookshops, shoe shops, toy stores, and drugstores are open. A combination that attracts many families from the greater Stuttgart area, the upper Remstal valley, and the Welzheimer Wald forest.
Schorndorf — The Daimler City in the Remstal Valley
Schorndorf is located about 30 kilometres east of Stuttgart in the middle Remstal valley. The city is primarily known as the birthplace of Gottlieb Daimler (1834), the pioneer of automotive engineering. His birthplace in Höllgasse is now a museum. With around 40,000 inhabitants, Schorndorf is one of the larger medium-sized towns in the Rems-Murr district — economically sound, culturally active (Manufaktur, Stadtmuseum), easily accessible by S2 from Stuttgart.
