The Mega City Festival in Remstal
The Schorndorfer Woche — known to everyone as "SchoWo" — has been the largest city festival in the Rems-Murr district for decades. From July 17 to 21, 2026, the entire historic old town of Schorndorf will be transformed into a single festival site. Five days of programming, more than 100 events, two large stages, and countless smaller venues make SchoWo the social highlight of the summer in Remstal.
Festival Areas and Stages
The festival is spread across four central areas: The Market Square with the main stage and party focus, the Rose Square with high-quality live entertainment, the City Church as a quieter area, and the old town alleys where clubs, restaurateurs, and initiatives set up their stalls. Bands, DJs, cover bands, and regional artists alternate on two stages — the lineup ranges from pop and rock to Schlager, indie, and electronic dance music.
Culinary Delights and Schorndorf's Club Life
Dozens of clubs, restaurants, and cafés in the city cater to visitors on the festival grounds. Swabian classics like Maultaschen, Zwiebelrostbraten, and Saitenwürstle meet Flammkuchen, pizza, burgers, cocktails, and wine from Remstal. The traditional "Hocketse" concept — sitting together at long tables, talking, and celebrating — shapes the atmosphere of the entire festival week.
Family Program and Highlights
SchoWo also has a lot to offer for families: Children's programs, carousels, craft activities, and a vintage vehicle show are part of the regular repertoire. The registration deadline for the 2026 vintage vehicle show is June 15, 2026. The opening with a beer tapping ceremony, the traditional "Hock", and the grand finale on Tuesday evening are among the annual highlights.
Schorndorf — Daimler City in Remstal
Schorndorf, with nearly 40,000 inhabitants and the birthplace of Gottlieb Daimler, is one of Baden-Württemberg's most charming half-timbered towns. The historic old town with its colorful houses, the Market Square, and the City Church is known as a film set and provides the perfect stage for a traditional city festival. SchoWo has always been the city's biggest tourist magnet in high summer.
